“Deidara? Could Iwa Deidara come to the office?” a crackly voice read over the loudspeaker. I sighed. What could they possibly need me for?

I left my class and trudged through the hallways down to the student office. “Deidara here. You needed me for something?” I asked tiredly.

“Yes,” the office secretary replied. “You are to show the new student, Akasuna Sasori, to his classes.”

“Why me, un?”

“Because! You are a good student. Plus you and Sasori have similar schedules. So be nice to him and tell him what he needs to know about the school, okay?”

She’s treating me like a five - year - old. “Yes, un.” I sighed again.

“…And this is your homeroom, un.” I finished, pointing at the door. “We have basically the same schedule, so if you have any other questions, you can just find me and ask, un, I’ll help if I can.”

“Thank you, I-Iwa-san.”

I turned to the boy, looking him up and down. He wore dark clothes - tight black jeans, a black hooded top with long sleeves, it’s v-neck revealing overly pale skin. His face was decorated with heavy eyeliner with a piercing on the edge of his lower lip which he kept running his tongue over - he probably hadn’t had it very long. It was all topped off with messy red hair, shaggy bangs hanging in his eyes, with long streaks of black weaved throughout.

All in all, he looked like he would fit in with my crowd.

“Hey, um, Iwa-san?”

I snapped out of my little lala land moment. “Un?”

“You’re staring at me.”

A blush crept onto my face. “Whatever, un. I was just spacing, don’t think anything weird about it, un.”

“Okay, Iwa-san. Uh, ahh…?” He stopped as he realized that I was walking away.

I turned back to face the boy again. “Do you need something, un?”

He looked down at his feet. “I’m s-sorry to trouble you, I - “

“Just get on with it, un.”

I regretted the words the minute I saw the hurt look that crossed his face. “Ah…what I meant was; it’s okay, un. Just say what you need to. It’s not a big deal, un, I’ve got time.”

The boy bowed slightly. A small - triumphant looking? - smile crossing his face. What a strange person.

“But, what I was going to ask was, um, could you show me where to go for lunch?”

“Right, un!” I smacked my forehead into my hand. “I forgot! Well -” I twisted to look at the clock on the wall nearby. “ - the bell’s about to ring for my lunch period - you have it this period too, right, un?”

The boy pulled out a paper schedule and studied it for a moment before looking up and asking, “This is sixth period?” I nodded. “Then yeah, I do.”

“Okay then, un, just follow me.” I turned and headed down the hallway, hearing another set of footsteps follow behind me.

But suddenly, they stopped. I turned to see where he had gone, only to find him about five feet away, standing by a door, reverently running his teal-painted fingertips over the worn wood.

“Iwa-san, is this the art room?” the redhead asked softly.

Some tour guide I am, un. “Yeah, un. You like art?”

“Y-Yes. Very much. I don’t have it until the last period.”

“Me too, un. Art is…” I stopped - he wouldn’t want to hear my strange description. “We can enjoy it together, un!” I smiled - I hoped he got that I was being friendly.

“Y-Yeah…” the boy … blushed? - and trailed off, going into a trance as he looked back at the door.

Yes; he is definitely going to fit in with me.

“Come on!” I said, gently tugging on his wrist, pulling him further toward the cafeteria. “I’m hungry, un.”
